Latest sculptures in Australia

I finished these sculptures last week. They are all in Crystal Waters Permaculture Community in the Hinterland. Queensland. Australia. They are made with ferrocement and oxides.

Acabé estas esculturas la semana pasada. Están todas en Crystal Waters, una comunidad de permacultura en Hinterland, Queensland, Australia. Están hechas con ferrocemento y óxidos.

Ferrocement head, step by step

That's the head of the Rain Goddess. It lives in Rainforest Hideway, in Cape Tribulation, North Queensland. Australia.
I mixed cement and sand and a bit of dishwashing liquid and left them sitting in a bucket for a couple of hours (until they get hard but not completely hard) and then carved the head of the Goddess as in the first pic. Next day I made the chicken wire structure and added the cement. And I polished the face with a spoon.

Esta es la cabeza de la diosa de la lluvia que está en Rainforest Hideway, en Cabo Tribulation, en el Norte de Queensland. Australia.Primero mezclé el cemento con arena y un poco de detergente y los dejé en un cubo durante un par de horas para que se endureciera lo justo para poder esculpirla (foto 1). Al día siguiente hice la estructura con alambre y añadí más cemento. Ah, y pulí la cara con una cuchara.

Number 01- Barcelona 2005

This is the very first sculpture I ever made. I got so inspired by Brithish sculptor John Davies than I left my brushes and pencils aside and began to make sculptures. Eventually I went to London to meet him and gave this sculpture to him as a present. I've made postcards and cards with this photo. I was going to take a picture of the little head and got inspired to take one of my hand holding it.

Número 01 - Barcelona 2005

Esta es la primera escultura que hice. Tras ver la obra del escultor británico John Davies, dejé los pinceles y lápices a un lado y empecé a hacer esculturas. Acabé yendo a Londres a conocerlo y le regalé esta pieza. Tengo postales con esta foto. Estaba sacando fotos de la cabeza cuando decicí hacer una con mi mano también.

BA BIRD 3 and 4

Ba Bird 3 and 4.  They are made of clay, bisque fired and painted with acrylic paint. I made my first Ba Bird in Melbourne in 2005 after a 'dream/vision' where a bird with the head of a 2 year old boy came to my door and was waiting for me. After that experience I tried to make a sculpture of what I saw. I didn't manage to get any closer to what I saw, but I had a cute Ba Bird sculpture that was not for sale but every body wanted to buy. A while ago a friend asked me to make another one that she could buy and I made 3 new Ba Birds. Here there are 2.

Ba Bird 3 y 4. Barro cocido (bizcocho) pintado con acrílicos. Hice mi primer Ba Bird en Melbourne en 2005 después de tener un sueño/visión donde un pájaro grandote con cabeza de niño pequeño (de unos 2 años) me esperaba fuera de la puerta de mi casa. Después de la experiencia intenté reproducir lo que vi. No se parece en absoluto pero me quedó una escultura muy maja, que no estaba a la venta pero como suele pasar, mucha gente estaba interesada en comprarla. Hace poco una amiga me pidió que le hiciera una reproducción, e hice 3 nuevos Ba Birds. Aquí están dos de ellos.

Some of my sculptures last weekend at Greytown Arts Festival. They are all made of clay and fired at least once and some of them have been glazed and the others painted with acrylic paints. The ones on the picture have been made between 2005 and 2009 in Barcelona, Melbourne, Golden Bay (NZ), Wellington and Featherston (NZ).
